TOYOTA NEW SPONSOR OF FLYING PIG 10K Longtime Marathon Partner Becomes "Official Rig of the Pig"
Cincinnati, Ohio (May 1 , 2006) - The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon announces that Toyota will step up its involvement in the Marathon by becoming the presenting sponsor of Saturday's 10K event. The automaker, which has long been a partner of the Marathon by providing pace vehicles on race day, now will become the exclusive "Rig of the Pig" as the Marathon's official vehicle provider.
"We are thrilled to have Toyota increase its level of participation in the Marathon," said Iris Simpson Bush, executive director of the Marathon. "The Flying Pig is excited to have Toyota continue its partnership this year, and for years to come."
Among the vehicles Toyota will have on display during Flying Pig Marathon weekend are the new FJ Cruiser, the Highlander and Prius hybrids and the new Yaris sedan. Toyota also will debut the Camry hybrid car at the Flying Pig Health and Fitness Expo and Expo-Tique presented by National City.
"The fuel-efficient hybrids also will be used to pace the lead runners on race day," said Simpson Bush, "with their runner-friendly low emissions making them a great choice for that purpose."
The Toyota 10K is the headline event of Saturday's Flying Pig weekend festivities, with nearly 2,000 participants expected for the 8 a.m. start.
The eighth annual Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon will be held Sunday, May 7 with the Flying Pig Marathon, Half Marathon presented by National City, the Ernst &' Young 4-person relay and the Corporate Express Corporate Challenge Relay. Saturday, May 6 features the Toyota 10K, the 5K presented by girls!can, Flying Piglet and bigg's Family Fun Festival. Presenting sponsors are CoActive Marketing, Corporate Express, Ernst & Young, Old Spice High Endurance, Mercy Health Partners, National City and Paycor.
