"Swine Line" Sends Timing Info to Mobile Phones

CINCINNATI (May 2, 2007) - The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon unveils a new feature for participants in Sunday's Marathon, the "Swine Line," real-time text message updates that will let friends and family follow runners' and walkers' progress throughout the course.

Provided through media partner, the "Swine Line" updates will give anyone with a mobile phone instant information when a designated runner or walker crosses one of the timing mats along the course, at mile markers 6.8, 12, 19.3, 25.2 and 26.2. That way, friends and family will be able to follow their favorites throughout the Marathon through text messaging.

"We are thrilled to be able to offer runners and their loved ones our 'Swine Line' updates for the Marathon," said Iris Simpson-Bush, executive director. "We thank for the technology to give our 'Street Squealers' instant information on where their runners and walkers are along the course."

"Swine Line" updates are available for Sunday's participants in the Marathon, Half Marathon presented by National City and Ernst & Young 4-person relays. Runners, family members and friends can sign up for "Swine Line" text messaging at the Flying Pig Marathon Health and Fitness Expo presented by National City on Friday from noon-7 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Duke Energy Center in downtown Cincinnati.

In addition, the Flying Pig Marathon staff will be using Road Runner High Speed Online to time and score runners and Pivot wireless phone service by Sprint to remain connected along the 26.2 mile course, through the race's official Technology Sponsor, Time Warner Cable.

The Ninth Annual Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon weekend is May 4-6, 2007, featuring the full marathon, the Half Marathon presented by National City, Ernst and Young 4-Person Relay, Toyota 10K, 5K and the Piglet presented by First Watch, The Enquirer and Children's Hospital. Other events include the National City Expo and Expotique and Duke Energy Pasta "Pig Out" Dinner. Presenting sponsors are Duke Energy, National City, CoActive Marketing Group, Ernst and Young and Paycor.

The Flying Pig Marathon has been named one of the top 10 "Most Fun Runs" in the world by Runner's World magazine, one of the best corporate brands by Fast Company and is listed in "The Traveling Marathoner: A Complete Guide To Top U.S. Races and Sightseeing on the Run," by Elise Allen.
