Flying Pig Marathon Names New Officers Jim Mahon new Marathon chair

Cincinnati, Ohio (June 17, 2003) - The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon Board of Directors has elected Jim Mahon of Bartlett & Co as the new board chairperson for the Marathon's 2003-2004 season. Mahon is a veteran of more than 50 marathons as a runner, and has served on the Marathon Board since its beginning 5 years ago.

Joining Mahon as new Marathon officers are Joe Hale, President of the Cinergy Foundation, vice chairman; Bob Baron, financial chairman; John Mongelluzzo of Vorys Sater Seymour & Pease, secretary and Dr. Doug Olberding of Xavier University, treasurer.

"It's an honor to have someone of Jim Mahon's experience step up as Marathon board chair," said Iris Simpson-Bush, Marathon executive director. "Jim has been invaluable to us during his time on the board, and he's certainly the right person to lead the Marathon to even greater goals in 2004."

"The Flying Pig Marathon has always been one of my favorites as a runner," said Mahon. "Being able to work with the Board to develop the race through the upcoming year is a special honor."

The Flying Pig Marathon attracted more than 9,800 runners in 2003, a 9% increase in registration from the year before. For the first time the Marathon brought in runners from all 50 states, and helped a record 55 charities raise money through the event.

Founding sponsors of the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon include CoActive Marketing Group, Mercy Health Partners and Paycor. The 6th annual Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon will be held Sunday, May 2, 2004.
