FLYING PIG MARATHON ADDS HALF-MARATHON EVENT
National City Joins Marathon as Presenting Sponsor
Cincinnati, Ohio (November 10, 2004) - The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon, already one of the top 20 marathons in the country as rated by Runner's World, will add a new half-marathon to its 7th annual running on Sunday, May 1, 2005. The half marathon will be called the "Cincinnati Flying Pig Half Marathon, presented by National City."
"The half marathon distance of 13.1 miles is the fastest growing event, in participants, in the country," said Iris Simpson-Bush, executive director. "Runners have been asking for a half marathon for some time, and we are more than happy to offer one, thanks to National City Bank."
"National City is pleased to partner with such a great community event as the Flying Pig Marathon," said Mike Price, chief operating officer of National City in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. "The bank has always valued its involvement in our neighborhoods, so the half marathon is a natural partnership."
The half marathon will start at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 1, at the same time as the full marathon field. The two groups will run together for approximately nine miles, when the half marathon field will turn back toward downtown and end at the Marathon finish line along Yeatman's Cove.
The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon weekend events are scheduled for Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1, 2005, with the Bob Roncker's Running Spot Health and Fitness Expo scheduled for Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30 at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center, Covington, KY. Presenting sponsors are Coactive Marketing Group, Corporate Express, Ernst & Young, Mercy Health Partners, National City and Paycor.
