Jeffrey Heikes Plans First Visit to Marathon

Cincinnati, Ohio (December 14, 2005) - The 8th annual Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon, scheduled for Sunday, May 7, 2006, is well on its way to becoming a '50 state marathon' again with the registration of Jeffrey Heikes from Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

"The Dakotas are traditionally the final states to sign up for the Marathon," said Iris Simpson-Bush, executive director. "With Jeffrey planning on joining us, it's now left up to North Dakota to complete our 50-state map."

"The main reason I decided to enter the Flying Pig Marathon was because of the all of the great reports I received from other runners," said Jeffrey. "I frequently read internet posts on marathoning and when the race was run last year there was tons of great hype. I consulted and all of the reports from there were outstanding."

Jeffrey continued, "I wanted to pick a race which had a large number of amateur runners with a "fun" atmosphere. It seemed that the 'Pig' fit the bill.

"I can't wait to get to the starting line," Jeffrey concluded.

The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon weekend begins Friday, May 5 with the Health and Fitness Expo at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center, Covington, Kentucky. Saturday, May 6, begins with the Flying Pig 10K, the Flying Pig 5K and the Flying Piglet Kids' Fun Run. Sunday's Marathon begins at 6 a.m., with the wheelchair division starting at 5:55 a.m.

Registration is now open on-line and in the mail for the eighth annual Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon, to be held Sunday, May 7 with the Flying Pig Marathon, Half Marathon presented by National City, the Ernst & Young 4-person relay and the Corporate Express Corporate Challenge Relay. Presenting sponsors are CoActive Marketing, Corporate Express, Ernst & Young, Mercy Health Partners, National City and Paycor.
