YMCA KICKS OFF TRAINING PROGRAM
FOR THE 'PIG'
Cincinnati, Ohio (December 26, 2003) - There's still time to start your New Year's resolution early, and start training for the 2004 Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon, to be held Sunday, May 2. The Cincinnati YMCA kicks off its 17-week training program on Tuesday, Dec. 30th with an informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Williams Y, 1228 E. McMillan St.
"Several Marathon training programs already have started, but this is a great way for more runners to still get involved in the "Pig," said Iris Simpson-Bush, executive director of the Marathon.
The Y's first training run will be held Saturday, January 3 at the Williams branch. "The training program is scheduled for 17 weeks, but we could allow participants later in January," said Jim Bouldin, executive director of the Williams Y.
On-line registration is now open for the full Marathon, the Outback 2-person relay, the Ernst & Young 4-person relay and the Corporate Challenge, along with the Papa John's 10K. Early registrants can take advantage of the early full marathon registration price of only $55, good until January 20th.
Registration for the new 5K fun run on Saturday, May 1, will open after the first of the year. If you'd like a paper registration or need more information, please call the Marathon office at 513-721-PIGS.
The 6th annual Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon will be run on Sunday, May 2, 2004, with the Kahn's Flying Piglet Fun Run and new 5K run scheduled for Saturday, May 1.
