Greetings!

Happy new training year! I'm sure that those of you who are planning to do the Flying Pig half or full marathon are well on your way in training for those events. Congratulations on everything you have accomplished to date! You'll be in good company for Pig weekend, as our registration is trending higher, by double digits over last year and we are thrilled to have you join us for the 13th annual event.

This year, we are dedicating our weekend to the many charities and non-profits that use the Pig's weekend of events to raise money for their own causes. This year we expect to have more than 170 charity organizations partner with us for their fundraisers. From volunteering along the course to raising money through pledges, each charity comes up with its own unique way to raise funds.

The exciting part about this year's charity effort is that we are very close to the $10 million dollar mark in charity fundraising since the Pig began! With exciting new charity partnerships and increased fundraising opportunities, the Pig is working hard to make sure we hit that $10 million charity level.

If your charity or non-profit is still looking for a spring fundraiser, we would love to have you join us for this, the "Year of Charity." Visit our website at www.flyingpigmarathon.com to find out how your organization can get involved. We'd love to have you be part of the Pig!

Are you a Flying Pig Squadron member?

At the Flying Pig we appreciate those runners and walkers who have been particularly loyal to the race by coming year after year to run with us. Now that we are over 12 years old we have quite a list of runners who have run the full marathon 10 or more times. We would like to recognize those runners by including them in our Flying Pig Squadron.

We have been busy sifting through registration data trying to identify those runners who have completed 10 or more FULL Flying Pig Marathons over the years. Now we need your help to find those that were not included in the registration data that we have. Please look over the list of runners at http://www.flyingpigmarathon.com/squadron/. If your name, or someone you know is not on this list and you have run the full Flying Pig Marathon 10 times please send your information including the years that you completed the full marathon to Brian Nash at brian.nash@fuse.net. We hope your training is going well. We look forward to seeing you May 1, 2011!
