The SQUEAL : April 25, 2008
The latest and greatest news from the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon
THE SQUEAL is the free e-mail newsletter of the
10th Annual Flying Pig Marathon
8 Days until Flying Pig Marathon Weekend!
Greetings!
Sue Tarbox of Carlisle, Ohio, is returning for this year's Pig. Here's her story:
"I will be running my third straight Flying Pig and sixth marathon. During a training run in early March I tripped on the sidewalk and landed like a 'starfish' on the pavement breaking my nose (pigs may fly, but I didn't). Despite the setback, I have been training hard and am looking forward to achieving my third straight PR on the Flying Pig course! The support is phenomenal and I tell everyone that the PIG is the best!!!! This will be my first marathon running by myself and I am looking forward to setting a PR on May 4th."
Best of luck, Sue, and be careful! What is your Pig story? Email us at media@flyingpigmarathon.com
along with your contact information.
Pig Points
Again this year, the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon will offer non-denominational services on Sunday morning. The services will be held at 5:45 a.m. Sunday morning on the Plaza level of Paul Brown Stadium. The services will last about 15 minutes and will give you plenty of time to return to the start line for the 6:30 a.m. events.
Tide at the Expo
As part of its commitment to the Flying Pig Marathon, Tide will be at the Health and Fitness Expo presented by National City, with free samples. Also, boxes of Tide will be donated to St. Vincent de Paul in Cincinnati to launder discarded clothes along the Marathon route, and other donations St. Vincent de Paul receives.
The Greening 'o the Pig
Did you know that in this decade, it's estimated that Americans will throw away more than a million tons of aluminum cans and foil, and more than 11 million tons of glass bottles, according to Keep Cincinnati Beautiful. Almost all can be recycled! Join the Flying Pig Marathon and 'go green' not just at the Marathon, but all year 'round.
