The latest and greatest news from the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon
THE SQUEAL is the free e-mail newsletter of the
10th Annual Flying Pig Marathon
6 Days until Flying Pig Marathon Weekend!
Greetings!
Welcome to Day 21 of our daily e-mail blasts to help you prepare for the 10th annual Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon events.
For some entrants, the Flying Pig Marathon is a homecoming of sorts:
"I grew up in Oakley, but left when I was 18 to join the Marine Corps. I settled in West Virginia, and was told of the Flying Pig Marathon when my brother-in-law joined to run this year. I subscribed to the email daily reminder, and look forward to Pig Day.
Pat (Rupp) Anderson
PS: I have been back to Cincinnati frequently, but have never seen the 4 flying pig sculptures. I did, however, see the "Big Pig Gig" entries. Semper Fi, GOD bless America
Pat, you'll be able to see the flying pig sculptures along the riverfront at the entrance to Bicentennial Commons, just yards from where the Victory Party will be held. Make sure you get your photo taken with the Pigs! What is your Pig story? Email us at media@flyingpigmarathon.com
along with your contact information.
Pig Points
Team in Training from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is the Flying Pig Marathon's signature charity, but more than 75 charities and non-profits use the Pig for their major fundraisers. In fact, in two out of the last three years, charities have raised more than $1 million through the Pig.
Zone Out
Teams running in the relay divisions might want to take a closer look at the zones where you'll be running. Zone maps are now available at www.flyingpigmarathon.com and click on the "Zone Maps" under the race information tab. Click here to view them now!
The Flying Pig Marathon, along with its partner, the City of Cincinnati, is up for a US Conference of Mayors' Climate Protection Program award, for its unique collaboration this year to 'green' the Pig. You can be part of it as well, by making a donation at the Health & Fitness Expo presented by National City to help cover the costs of the more than 4,000 trees that will cover the Pig's carbon footprint. Help the Pig go green!
