All runners are required to pick up their ChampionChip, bib race number, and other important information during these times. The marathon is not able to mail or deliver runner packets, Champion Chips, or runner premiums. Runners must have a photo ID available to pick up their packet.
Late registrations for all events will be accepted at the Expo. THERE IS NO RACE-DAY REGISTRATION OR PACKET PICK-UP FOR THE MARATHON, HALF MARATHON OR RELAYS.
Runners who are not able to pick up their packets in person at the Bob Roncker's Running Spot Health & Fitness Expo must make arrangements for a representative to pick up their packets. Your representative must present a copy of your photo ID and a signed authorization from you to Race Registration in order to claim your packet and premiums.
After receiving your packet, please verify that the ChampionChip in the envelope is registered to your name by having it tested at the chip verification timing mat located at the expo.

Papa John's Flying Pig 10K Start: 7:00 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2005
Because of its popularity, the Flying Pig Papa John's 10K is now the headline event for Marathon Saturday. The race starts on Mehring Way near the Suspension Bridge and finishes in Yeatman's Cove, sharing the same finish line as the marathon. The Papa John's Race will feature dedicated water stops, mile markers, course monitors, and finisher medals. Runners must be at least 12 years of age on April 30, 2005 to participate.

Flying Pig 5K and Fun Festival Start: 9:15 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2005
The Flying Pig 5K and Fun Festival in association with girls!CAN, is Saturday, April 30 at 9:15 a.m. at Sawyer Point, on Cincinnati's riverfront. The fun run is open to runners and walkers of all ages. The 5K features a water stop and mile markers at ½, 1, 2, and 3 miles. Registered participants receive a t-shirt and goodie bag and all finishers receive a Flying Pig Marathon finisher's medal.
Area health organizations and youth groups also will have booths at the 5K Fun Festival with information and demonstrations for parents and youngsters alike.
The race is being held in association with the girls!CAN youth organization. girls!CAN, a new after-school program for girls in grades K-8, is an adventure in learning about accountability and responsibility with fun and physical activities.

Kahn�s® Flying Piglet Kids� Fun Run & Festival featuring the Pamper's Diaper Daswh Saturday, April 30, 2005 - As a registered participant, your child will receive a "goodie bag" to fill with lots of fun stuff. It will be a morning of exercise, nutrition, entertainment, and wellness. Registration and packet pick-up will begin at 8:00 a.m. at Sawyer Point, with activities beginning at 10:00 a.m. Please allow 30 minutes for registration and packet pick-up prior to your child's race time.
The races are fun runs all children will receive the same prizes. Each registered child will receive a Flying Piglet Kid's Fun Run T-shirt, a finisher's medal, and a Kahn's® hot dog just for participating.

Age Groups
Races will begin with the Pampers Diaper Dash at 10:00 a.m. Participants will be allowed to have two parents on the "course." Each parent will receive a wristband to identify the child's parent. Additional spectators for the Diaper Dash and 2-3 year olds will be seated in bleachers.
Age groups may be run in a series of heats to accommodate all participants. The distances in these short runs vary, increasing with each age group. Please remain behind the barrier for the safety of all participants.
Children over nine years of age are invited to participate in 1mile or more of the 5K Fun Run, beginning at 9:15 a.m. There is a reduced fee for children under 14 years.

The Pasta Party is open to all participants, family, and friends. Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-serve basis and are limited to 1000 people. Tickets will not be sold at the Cinergy Foundation Pasta Party.
Relay Information
The following information applies to all Ernst & Young 4 Person Open and Relay and Corporate Express Corporate Rally participants. Please review this information with each member of your team.
If you need to substitute a runner on your relay team, have the substitute fill out an entry form with a note as to whom they are replacing on which team, and bring to the Expo when you pick up your team packet.
Do not mail or FAX your registration form. You must bring your registration form to the Bob Roncker's Health and Fitness Expo on Friday, April 29 or Saturday, April 30.
The Relay Team packets will be distributed at the Bob Roncker's Running Spot Health & Fitness Expo and will contain all materials and supplies for each of the runners on the team. Only one member of the team may pick up the packets for the team.
Each relay team will be given one ChampionChip timing device in the team packet. Each relay runner will be given two runner bibs: one race number for display on the front of the runner's shirt, and a "Relay" bib to be displayed on the back of the shirt. Please distribute the bibs before race morning.
The ChampionChip for each team is placed on a velcro ankle band that must be worn during the race. Runners should wear a sock under the band to protect the ankle from chaffing. Each relay runner will pass the ankle band to the next relay runner after crossing timing mats at the relay exchange zones. We suggest the outgoing runner kneel down to remove the band from the ankle of the incoming runner, then strap it around the ankle and test it for security before starting. The ChampionChip needs to be worn below the knee for the chip to register on the timing mats.
Four Person Relays
Leg 1 runners start at the same time as the other marathon runners - 6:30 a.m. There is not a separate start for the Relay Teams.
Leg 2, 3, and 4 relay runners will be bused to their respective exchange zone. They should report to the NEW relay bus loading area on Eggleston Avenue and Butler Street, located 1.5 miles from the marathon start. Volunteers will direct these runners to the buses. Buses for the second runner will depart from 5:45 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. from the relay staging area Buses for the third runner will depart from 6:00 a.m. to 6:15 a.m. and buses for the fourth leg will depart from 7:00 a.m. to 7:20 a.m.
Completing Your Leg
When relay runners have completed their leg of the race, they will be bused to the Finish Line area. There will be a Relay Reunion area, the Pig Pen, at Sawyer Point with food and beverages.
Medals for the entire team will be awarded to the runner who crosses the Finish Line. Meet your teammates at the Pig Pen in Sawyer Point at the Michelob Ultra Victory Party and distribute your team medals, have your team photo taken and enjoy the food and beverages.
Runner's gear left at the relay exchange zones will be brought to the bus drop-off area near the Taylor-Southgate Bridge. See the new relay baggage exchange instructions that let you control the retrieving of your gear. Please do not leave valuables. Runner's gear will be transported back to the finish after all relay exchanges at the zone are complete and the zone has been taken down. Please be patient.
Relay runners need to keep up a 13:45 minute per mile pace or risk being caught by the sag wagon. Runners caught by the sag wagon have a choice of getting on and ending their race, or moving to the sidewalks.
Relay Baggage Claim
Each runner will create 2 bags: one to take with them to their zone, with their pre-run gear, and another bag of post-run gear to get when they reach the zone at the end of their relay leg.
Relay runners will have the previous runner's clothes bag with them and hand it to the incoming runner when the chip is exchanged.
Relay Runner #1:
Goes to the Start.
Leave your pre-run gear bag and the post-run gear bag for relay Runner #4 on the City Dash truck at the start and those bags can be retrieved after the finish on Butler Street.
Also, prior the race, give Runner #2 a post-run gear bag to get when you exchange the chip.
Your return bus will drop you at the end of the Taylor-Southgate Bridge. Follow Pete Rose Way back to Butler Street. Do not go into the finish line. The last runner on your relay will get all 4 medals for your team and meet you at the Pig Pen relay reunion area.
Relay Runner #2 at Zone 1/Eden Park:
Get your relay bus from Butler Street north of 3rd. Last bus leaves at 6:00 a.m. for Zone 1.
You will have the post-run gear bag for Runner #1 as well as your own pre-run gear bag to give to Runner #1 at the chip exchange. You will retrieve your pre-run gear bag from Runner #1 at the Pig Pen after the race.
Prior to boarding the bus to Zone 1, give a post-run gear bag to Runner #3 so that you will have clothing when you exchange the chip at the next zone.
Your return bus will drop you at the end of the Taylor-Southgate Bridge. Follow Pete Rose Way back to Butler Street. Do not go into the finish line. The last runner on your relay will get all 4 medals for your team and meet you at the Pig Pen relay reunion area.
Relay runner #3 at Zone 2/Wasson:
Get your relay bus from Culvert Street north of 3rd. Last bus leaves at 6:20 a.m. for Zone 2.
You will have the post-run gear bag for Runner #2 as well as your own pre-run gear bag to give to Runner #2 at the chip exchange. You will retrieve your pre-run gear bag from Runner #2 at the Pig Pen after the race.

Driving from the North:
I-75 South to the 5th Street Exit. Park north of 4th Street.
I-71 South to Gilbert Avenue Exit. From Gilbert turn right on Liberty Street and left on Sycamore to downtown parking.
I-71 South to the Downtown/Riverfront/3rd Street Exit. Turn right on Broadway and park north of 4th Street.
Driving from the South:
I-75 North to the 5th Street Exit. Park north of 4th Street.
I-471 North to the 6th Street Exit to downtown parking.
Walking from Northern Kentucky hotels:
Walk across the Clay Wade Bailey Bridge, right on 3rd Street, right on Central Avenue.
Walk across the John A Roebling Bridge left on Theodore Berry Way, left on Elm Street, right on Mehring Way.

Round trip fare is $4.00. Tickets will be available at the Bob Roncker's Running Spot Health & Fitness Expo Friday and Saturday, or Sunday on the boat. After the race, water taxis will be available to take passengers back to Northern Kentucky from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. picking up at the Public Landing on Mehring Way.

Participants must start at their designated times.
Relay participants please note new location of relay buses on Eggleston Avenue - approximately 1.5 miles from the marathon start. Relay buses begin departure for exchange zones at 5:50 a.m.
All races will start promptly at the designated times. Allow plenty of time to get to the Start Line in order to check any gear and seed yourself according to your projected pace time. Downtown streets below 4th Street will close at 6:00 am. If you are driving to the race plan to arrive early.
Signs will be posted at the Start Area denoting runner's estimated mile pace (i.e. 7:00 min./mile, 8:00 min./mile, etc.). This is for the benefit of all runners. Please start in the designated "Mile Pace" area according to the pace you expect to run the race. Your "chip time" will not start until you cross the ChampionChip sensor at the starting line. The seeded corral is for men with under 3 hours for marathon, 1:30 hour for half marathon and women under 3:30 for marathon, 1:45 hour for half marathon. The "official time" will start when the gun goes off.
Runner Gear Check
Marathon and Half Marathon participants may check gear at the Start Line. Relay participants see special relay information. A City Dash truck will be located on Central Ave near the intersection of Central Ave and Old Pete Rose Way beginning at 5:00 a.m. Place all of your items in one bag. A tear tag will be provided (detach from your runner bib number) as a means of I.D. Attach the tear tag to your bag prior to drop off at the City Dash gear truck. Runners can claim their gear after the race at the east end of Yeatman's Cove. Show your bib number to the volunteers to claim your bag. Allow plenty of time to get to the Start Line in order to check any gear and position yourself according to your projected pace time. Bags will be sorted by color.
Race (Bib) Number Requirements
Each participant will receive a Race (Bib) number that must be worn on race day. DO NOT alter your race number in any way. Your bib number must be visible and worn on the front outside of all clothing during the entire race so that it may be clearly seen. Bib numbers are non-transferable and MUST be worn by the runner to whom it is assigned.
Medical Support
Medical staff members will be ready to assist you at any time. Radio communications personnel will be positioned at every mile marker along the course. Volunteers at fluid stations are able to assist in finding the radio communicator at the nearest mile marker. Participants may also stop at any of the fire stations along the course if serious medical assistance is needed. There will also be athletic trainers approximately every three miles on course with bandaids and Vaseline.
The medical staff and Marathon officials have the right to withdraw any runner from the race who appears in distress or at risk. There will be a fully equipped medical facility at the Finish Line, staffed by a team of professionals. If you have a health or medical problem at the Finish Line, you will be directed to the Medical Area. Please cooperate if you are asked to go for a checkup. Only runners requiring medical assistance will be permitted in the Medical Area. If you feel that you need help at any point, please ask for it!
If you are unable to finish the race for any reason, please notify a race official of your bib number so that medical personnel is aware.
There will be flags at the relay exchange zones to indicate race conditions. Green flag means good conditions for racing. Yellow flag means moderate risk of heat injury, consider slowing your pace. Red flag means high risk of heat injury or serious environmental condition such as lightning. Consider greatly reducing pace or discontinuing race. Black flag means the race is over, continue at your own risk.
Finish Information
When you cross the finish line you will be greeted by volunteers who will assist you with Champion Chip removal, give you a mylar blanket, and the coveted Flying Pig Finisher Medal. Then it's on to the Recovery Area, where you will get refreshments provided by Alaskan Falls, Panera Bread Company, Caruso Produce, Clif Bar, and more. Access to Recovery is limited to runners only.
Continue through the Recovery Area and proceed to Sawyer Point and the Victory Party. You can meet your family and friends, who will be waiting for you in the lawn area, near the signs marked with letters of the alphabet.
Shuttle buses will be provided for those who are returning to the downtown area and Northern Kentucky. The shuttle will pick up near the Finish Line at the Taylor-Southgate Bridge, and drop off near the Hyatt Hotel in Cincinnati on 5th Street. Buses will also make trips to Northern Kentucky and drop off at the Marriott RiverCenter, Covington Courtyard, Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, and Radisson Hotel. The buses will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Marathon Awards and Prizes
The overall and division award winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on race day at 9:00 a.m. for the half marathon and noon for the full marathon at Sawyer Point. Overall awards to the top five men and women will be determined by gun time, all other division awards by chip time.
Marathon, Half Marathon and Papa John's® 10K
Overall prizes will be awarded to the top five men and women determined by gun time. There will also be awards for the top Cincinnati man and woman and top Ohio man and woman.
Age group prizes will be given to the top three finishers in the following categories for men and women: 17 and under (10K), 14-17 (half marathon), 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+. Award times will be determined by chip time.
Awards will also be given to the top three in each of the following divisions: Clydesdale 200-219 lbs., Clydesdale 220+ lbs., Athena, Masters (men and women), Wheelchair (men and women). Awards will be determined by chip time.
Relay Event
Relay prizes are awarded to the top three men, women and coed teams in all relay divisions. Awards will be determined by chip time.
Michelob Ultra Victory Party / Stage sponsored by CinWeekly
The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon Michelob Ultra Victory Party will be held on Sunday, May 1, near the finish line of the race. The party will run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with music, food, and fun.
Travel Information
A few airlines have hubs in Cincinnati, making air travel prices relatively reasonable. The airport is located south of the city in Northern Kentucky, but it is only a ten minute drive to downtown Cincinnati. Transportation from the airport is available through Executive Transportation. Reservations are required. Call (859)261-8841 to make reservations.
For those staying at the recommended hotels, a rental car is not necessary as most of the Marathon Weekend activities are within walking distance (the Expo/Packet Pick-Up, start and finish). Parking in the downtown area will be at a premium, due to the Marathon and other scheduled events taking place.

Get the course map and description from the website. Decide where your family and friends can cheer you on when you most need the support. Spectators should check out the "Getting Around the New Pig" found on the website.
There are 25 fluid and replacement fluid stations supplied by Gatorade throughout the course. The Clif Shot, a natural energy gel, will be available between miles 17 & 18. Restroom facilities will be spread throughout the course at the relay exchange zones, the start area and the finish area. New in 2005 - There will be a restroom "oasis" with 20 portable restrooms at Mile 12 on Wasson Road just beyond Relay Zone 2. Medical and first-aid personnel will be stationed at the finish and at various points along the course.
Sponsors and spectators will provide live entertainment throughout the course. From music and costumes to signs and cheering, participants in the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon will be supported from the start to the finish!

What pace groups will be offered?
Groups will be lead to finish the marathon in the following times: 3:10, 3:20, 3:30, 3:40, 3:50, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 5:00 and 5:30.
Is there a cost to participate?
Participation is free to all marathon participants.
Clydesdale & Athena Information
There is a special division for our more "muscular" marathoners. This allows larger athletes to be more competitive amongst others in their weight categories. The Clydesdale Category for men has two divisions: 200-219 lbs. and 220+ lbs. The Athena Category for women is 140+ lbs. All Clydesdales and Athenas MUST be weighed in at the Bob Roncker's Running Spot Health & Fitness Expo to verify their registration in this classification. Participants who did not initially register for this classification on their entry form can register at the booth during Expo hours.
Flying Pig Marathon Official Merchandise
The Flying Pig Marathon Official Merchandise Store will have commemorative shirts, hats, pins, and other accessories. The main store will be located at the Bob Roncker's Health & Fitness Expo and will be open during Expo operating hours. There will also be a booth at the Victory Party at Sawyer Point on race day. The merchandise may be purchased with cash, MasterCard or VISA. In addition you can order year round at the Flying Pig Marathon e-Store on the website.
Volunteer Information
Over 3,000 volunteers are needed to make the Marathon run smoothly. Volunteers are still needed to help! Please contact the Marathon office at (513) 721-PIGS (7447) to volunteer Race Weekend. All volunteers will receive a commemorative Flying Pig Marathon Grunt T-shirt, access to the Volunteer Tent at Victory Party, and an invitation to the Volunteer Thank You Party sponsored by Grand Victoria Resort & Casino.
